Councilman Astleford holds a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management from Whitworth University and a Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University. He was recently accepted into the Doctorate of Higher Education and Leadership program at St. Edward's University in Austin, TX, and will begin taking classes in the Fall of 2023.
Councilman Astleford is a civil servant for a large federal agency, working as a Contract Specialist - first in realty and construction projects and currently in IT and services procurement. Before working for the government, he specialized in e-commerce and business development, helping small businesses expand their digital footprint and brick-and-mortar capabilities.
Before being appointed to the remainder of the Place 5 term, Councilman Astleford was a member of the most recent Windcrest Charter Review Commission, participated in the Windcrest Citizens' Patrol and Windcrest Volunteers group, and served as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner and member of the Board of Adjustment.
Councilman Astleford is the proud husband of Ann - having met when they both worked as Army civilian employees in Germany and happily married since 2011. Their primary reason for moving to Windcrest was to provide their two children with a peaceful and safe place to grow up.
As an appointed council member, Councilman Astleford would like to use his time on the Windcrest City Council to engage in conversations, ask questions, and provide input in service to the City of Windcrest and its citizens. He looks to be an accessible voice to Windcrest residents.
His main priorities for Windcrest are ensuring that public safety remains at the forefront of the city's responsibilities, prioritizing needed infrastructure projects, and ensuring that the city provides a diverse offering of amenities and services that will help it remain a great place to live, work, and play.
