Lieutenant Daniel Hernandez was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He initially sought a career in the medical field and dedicated 13 years to that field. He changed careers in 2006 and began his law enforcement career with the Bexar County Sherriff’s Office (BCSO). After leaving the BCSO he worked with the Bexar County Hospital District Police for over a year and in 2007 he began with the Windcrest Police Department. He has worked his way up the ranks within our department where he now is the Lieutenant over the Special Operations Division. Lieutenant Hernandez currently holds his Advanced Police Officer Certificate and is working towards his Master’s Certificate. His law enforcement career encompasses working in Patrol, Bike Patrol, Gang Intel, Investigator in CID as well as supervising Animal Control, Code Enforcement, CID, Patrol Operations, and Citizen Patrol. He has taken on the duties of our Family Assistance Officer, Mental Health Officer, and he is a member of Alamo Metro SWAT Negotiator Unit and Bexar County Mental Health Board.
