1. Do I need to be registered with the City to perform construction work in the City of Windcrest?: Yes, all contractors are required to be registered with the City of Windcrest. This must be done annually, NO fee is currently being charged. You will need to upload your state license along with a driver's license to MyGovermentOnline

2. What types of work require a building permit?: Most plumbing, electrical and mechanical work requires a building permit along with some remodeling work. To see if you need a permit for work you are doing or work that will be done by a contractor, contact the Permit Department.

3. I'm a homeowner, can I obtain a permit for work being done to my property?: For electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation work, a state-licensed contractor MUST pull the permit. If a contractor will be hired for any work being done, the contractor will have to pull the permit. If the homeowner will be the only one performing the work, the homeowner will have to pull a permit and assumes all liability for the work performed.

4. Do I need a permit to construct a sidewalk/driveway on my property?: Yes. You will need to upload 2 sets of plans to MyGovermentOnline

5. If I want to remodel, do I need to submit plans?: Yes. The city prefers that there be two sets of plans presented at the time that the building permit is pulled. Permits must be pulled through MyGovermentOnline

6. How much does a building permit cost?: Permit costs vary. Building permit costs are based on the value of construction. All other permit costs are based on what type and amount of work will be performed. Call the Permit Office to get the permit costs for the specific work to be performed.

7. When work is performed, does it need to get inspected?: Yes, all work that is performed needs to be inspected to ensure that it is done in accordance with the applicable codes adopted by the City of Windcrest. Schedule your inspection on MyGovermentOnline
