Most plumbing, electrical and mechanical work requires a building permit along with some remodeling work. To see if you need a permit for work you are doing or work that will be done by a contractor, contact the Permit Department.
For electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation work, a state-licensed contractor MUST pull the permit. If a contractor will be hired for any work being done, the contractor will have to pull the permit. If the homeowner will be the only one performing the work, the homeowner will have to pull a permit and assumes all liability for the work performed.

The City of Windcrest has adopted the latest International Codes as published by the International Code Council Inc., including the International Energy Code. The most current edition of the National Electrical Code as published by the National Fire Protection Association is also used.
